Mission and Objectives
To train public safety personnel and community leaders to become poison prevention instructors in their respective communities, thereby increasing public poison awareness. The goal is to decrease the number of poisonings that occur in the State as a result of this program.

At the conclusion of this program, the learners should be able to instruct the general public to:

  • Identify common poisons found in and around the home
  • Identify risk factors associated with poisoning and how to minimize them
  • Take appropriate action in a poison emergency
  • Act as a distribution point for the Poison Center educational and preventative literature
  • Give an overview of the services Poison Centers offer
